We collect as little as we can. We don't sell your data, we don't use advertising trackers, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Who we are

PriceHiked (pricehiked.com, "we", "us") is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@pricehiked.com for anything in this policy.

What we collect and why

  • Price alerts and the Hike Report. Your email address, the tools or categories you follow and how often you want email. We use it only to send those emails. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
  • Product submissions, pledges and corrections. The product details you enter, your email address and anything else you type into the form. We use it to review and publish the listing and to reply to you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the price database accurate, and for vendors, steps toward an agreement with us.
  • Sponsorship requests and payments. Your email address, company details, the placement you choose and invoices. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Legal basis: performing our contract with you, and our legal duty to keep tax records.
  • Email you send us. Mail to hello@pricehiked.com is forwarded to our inbox. We keep it as long as we need to answer you and keep records.
  • Technical data. When you visit, our host Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request, so it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. It gives us traffic statistics that don't identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working site.

What stays in your browser

The tools you watch, your stack, your migration progress and similar choices are saved in your browser's local storage, so the site remembers them next time. They stay on your device. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

Cookies

We don't set advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies, for example to tell people from bots. Vendor sites you open through our links, including referral links, may set their own cookies under their own policies. If we add analytics, we'll choose a privacy-friendly tool and update this page first.

Who processes your data for us

We use a small number of service providers, and only for the purposes above:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, DNS, security and email forwarding.
  • Google: the Inter font is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google; our forwarded email is stored in a Google inbox.
  • Stripe: payment processing for sponsors.
  • A form-delivery service that passes form submissions to our inbox, and an email service that sends alerts and the Hike Report.

We don't sell personal data, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

When you click a "Switch" or visit button, the link adds a tag such as ref=pricehiked, so the vendor knows the visit came from us. The tag doesn't contain any personal data.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, they rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. We delete your address within 30 days, except for a suppression entry that stops us emailing you again.
  • Submissions: as long as the listing is live, or 12 months if we decline it.
  • Sponsorship and billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically up to 7 years.
  • Emails: as long as needed to answer you and keep records.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@pricehiked.com and we'll answer within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority. If you're in California, you have the right to know, correct and delete your data and not to be treated differently for using these rights; we don't sell or share personal information.

Children

PriceHiked isn't aimed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has sent us personal data, tell us and we'll delete it.

Security

The whole site runs over HTTPS, and only we can access the data you send. No method of storing or sending data is completely secure, but we work to protect it and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We'll announce significant changes on the site before they take effect.
